Initiated by the shadows she observed on the ground and shadows on the ground, the artist spent months experimenting with a method to convey objects with two dimensions onto canvas. When objects live or a thing that can be eaten, like fruits and people, they become a painting of their own. Alexa's style of painting is ephemeral, and all remaining of Alexa Meade's work is her photo. Painting and photography are closely connected to form two-dimensional flat surface which is trompe-l'oeil. At certain locations, three dimensions are seen, for example, around the eye or on the hair. Meade sometimes incorporates her painted figures into the 3-dimensional world around the figures. They interact within the self-created world. In this way, she is able to blur the lines between painting, photography and performing.
